Entirely predictable responses to the Tucker Carlson interview along 'established party lines', and people already in a deep hole took it upon themselves to increase their efforts to dig even deeper. The Dutch minister of War responded by telling the state media that there was simply no limit to what she was prepared to provide to Ukraine. So, who knows? Maybe the 'JSF', armed with nuclear bombs are being readied as we speak, after we donated all the F-16's. Bio and chemical weapons? The entire Navy? Her kids?
In her case there are clear personal motives which feed into her thinking in unpredictable ways, causing 'bias', I assume. As a lesbian, married with two kids, she has to be aware of the Russian culture which is not as liberal as the Dutch culture today. And she has my blessing, before you get the wrong impression. Moreover, her family lost extensive possessions in Russia as members of the Finish nobility during the revolution, drifting to the Netherlands, where they were included in the nobility fairly recently, as a consolation prize, for which she must be grateful, I guess, but she is not exactly doing me any favours by overdoing it.
We have truckloads of people in positions of responsibility, or as commentators, with public stories about family ties which feed into their attitude towards Russia, and the Russians. Which includes people with German origins who actively fought the Soviet Union during the Second World War, as well as scores of Dutch citizens who joined the Germans during that war. In fact, there is a monument near Narva, in Estonia, to commemorate the Dutch and Flemish SS-soldiers who died there fighting the Russians. Around 22.000 Dutch men actively fought alongside the Germans, and anywhere between 4.000 to 6.000 died. Apart from everyone doing their laundry here in Holland, in administration, construction and transportation, including rail-transport of Jews and Roma to their final destination. Compare to a total of no more than around 1.700 who escaped to England to join the allied forces. And up until 1944 no more than 25.000 people in occupied Holland worked with the 'resistance' in some capacity.
Clearly, after the war, everybody had been a 'resistance' fighter, but the true numbers were a disappointment really. My grandfather on father's side escaped to England as the Dutch capitulated, sailing for the allies until he got caught while 'on leave' in Indonesia, spending years in a Japanese prison, barely alive when he was released. An uncle of mine I never knew died as his ship was hit by a German torpedo. The family on my mother's side hid relatives from the Germans. And my dad went 'underground' to escape the 'Arbeitseisatz'. My father-in-law was a decorated resistance fighter. I always wondered if I would have had the courage to do what had to be done.
This morning someone posted on 'X' that everybody who had been watching the Tucker Carlson interview would be registered by NATO secret services by now. I guess so, although many people who hate Carlson as well as Putin claim to have been watching too, so what about it? But since my blog is very much 'resistance', I do not doubt that I've been 'noticed' already. But I can't help myself. I need to do this. Or I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror. I do hope you appreciate that I'm simply 'recording' events, and drawing obvious conclusions, while trying to predict future developments. And I claim I'm doing a far better job than the 'professional Think-Tankers' employed by NATO, or doing their dirty work as 'journalist'. I'm no hero in any sense by merely telling my readers what they are missing if they are reading and watching the 'mainstream' narrative, and what to expect.
We're not at war. This is the most stupid, extremely irresponsible, passion driven, hugely expensive train wreck possible. I do agree with Putin that predominantly the people driving this train are fighting a war their parents and grandparents fought, and lost, or which fizzled out as the 'Cold War' ended. They are scheming and cajoling to get even in some insane manner, using public money to make it happen, inventing reasons which sound somewhat reasonable to convince the sane people resisting. Yes, if you tell me that they are not aware of what it is that is driving them, I will allow that this is possible. That someone like Angelina Baerbock, Germany's foreign minister, who's grandfather was a staunch Nazi according to the German publication 'Bild', not really clean of such influences itself, is not 'connected' to motives deep inside her thinking at some unconscious level. But all these people as a group make me wonder. How much of what we are is, somehow, preprogrammed? Without us knowing it. Even if we appear to oppose those who went before us, adopting 'Green'-politics and decrying the Holocaust. And yet…..
