British pop-icon Sting produced a song called ‘Russians’ back in 1985 on the album ‘The Dream of the Blue Turtles’. The Soviet Union was much closer to becoming history than many thought possible, and people were dreaming of a lasting peace. It was not a military conflict between the ‘Super-Powers’ which ended the Soviet-Union, but the Soviet decision to go into Afghanistan to save the secular, but not exactly timid communist regime from the Muslim extremists, which revealed itself as a catastrophic decision, since the economy of the Soviet-Union collapsed under the burden. Clearly the ‘West’ was instrumental, since it aided the Muslim extremists in every possible way. They even set up a dedicated extremist group called ‘Al Qaeda’, run by a Saudi national who brought a bunch of Saudi nationals to make life miserable for the Afghans who were enjoying equal rights for women and men, and acces to universities and all kinds of services. You know the story, right? With the Polish born architect of that hate-driven plan having no regrets afterwards.
After war broke out in Ukraine, Sting joined the band of celebreties to help NATO in its attempt to unseat Putin by pushing Ukraine under the bus. Most likely unknowingly that such had been the plan: ‘Overextending and Unbalancing Russia from Advantageous Ground’, which stipulated that an armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia could be exploited to unseat Putin, analogous to the scheme Zbigniew Brzezinski used to end the Soviet-Union, but with one addition: Murderous sanctions, agreed upon within the ‘Collective West’ well in advance, which were supposed to do the heavy lifting, and bring down Putin within weeks, months at most. The military side of things was somewhat neglected. Although NATO expected Putin to opt for a ‘Shock and Awe’ offensive to regime change Ukraine, and declare victory. I explained over and over why that was never the plan, but whatever.
This introduction is important to understand why we are dealing with two wars, rolled in one. A military war, and an economic war. But for the economic war to succeed, the military conflict can’t go South. The general idea is, that Russia having to spend beyond its means will eventually cause the government to collapse. It is not necessary for the fighting to continue, as long as Russia won’t be able to escape from spending way too much on the military. A ceasefire with NATO-countries rearming Ukraine for the rematch will do that as well as an ongoing war. Hence the drive for a ceasefire. Not because NATO wants peace. You do not need to trust me on this, since they are open about it, because they urge Ukraine to settle for nothing less than a ‘just peace’, which is defined as Ukraine regaining control over all the territory it lost after the 2014 Victoria ‘Fuck the EU’ Nuland orchestrated coup, plus ‘repairs’ to be paid by Russia, and Putin as well as all those in the Russian government with him dragged to The Hague to face a political tribunal. That is not going to happen, unless Russia loses. Thus, winning for Russia *does* exist, contrary to what Sting offered us in 1985.
Winning for Russia was not tied to territorial gains at first, but pushing Ukraine to return to the ‘Minsk Accord’, and peace, proceeding as a neutral country, with a limited military force, no longer controlled by ‘Nazi’s’. But since that option went out the window when Zelensky rejected the ‘Istanbul Accord’, Russia took it upon itself to secure at least the Donbas to protect ‘culturally Russian’ people in Ukraine from the terror of the ultra-Nationalists, the Ukrainian ‘Taliban’, if you will. Importantly, the Russians always maintained, publicly, that they were not after taking all of Ukraine. Because they understand that they wouldn’t be able to control the venomous anti-Russian ultra-Nationals in the western part of the country. Now, pay attention, because the Poles and the Hungarians, as well as the Romanians, who have been living in what used to be the ‘Ukraine Oblast’ in the Soviet-Union, are not exactly happy with the government in Kiev controlled by NATO either. In fact, this week a Hungarian man was killed by the scavengers looking for fresh recruits on the streets of Ukrainian cities and villages, and a ‘thug’ set fire to a church frequented by ethnic Hungarians. Orbán issued sanctions against the military officers involved in that killing, asking ‘Brussels’ to follow his example, but that is a non-starter, as you can imagine. The narrative that everybody in Ukraine supports Zelensky and NATO, is fiction, however.
The military side of this war is going in Russia’s direction. I abhor ‘war-porn’, but THIS video, illustrating the progress the Russians are making, and debunking some stupid narratives about the Russians running out of everything, again, will tell you exactly why everybody in the ‘Collective West’ is worrying about that part of the story. Yet, the bulk of the NATO-aligned analysts are betting on a Russian economic collapse after all. THIS video addresses that topic, explaining a few things about how the Russian government operates which is ill understood in our part of the world. Recently I posted a contribution which drew attention to Putin’s announcement that Russia would *reduce* its military spending, since the goals of that military part of the war were as good as achieved. While Russia didn’t need all that stuff they used in this ‘SMO’ to win the ‘War of Attrition’ to defend against NATO if it came to that, because the moment NATO would try something ‘funny’ militarily, Russia would nuke the Bejesus out of us. Thus, no ‘Arms Race’. And within the possibilities of the responsible ministries and the Russian Central Bank, the country has options to prevent disaster to strike again, as it did in the nineties, or so it seems to me. Certainly with China’s and India’s help. In fact, with soldiers returning home after the war, and Ukraine exhausted, while the NATO-countries are fighting amongst themselves over who will pay for the stuff Trump has to offer, and inflation in Russia under control by the looks of it, the looming mild recession as a result of Central Bank policies, with crazy interest rates of twenty percent to ‘cool’ the economy, doesn’t really look like it is going to end Putin’s rule.
Please note, that Russia under Putin has avoided going into debt, and even with a war raging the shortfall on the current budget is negligible. No country in the ‘Collective West’ could afford interest rates as high as in Russia, because it would bankrupt the debt riddled government instantly, which translates into Central Banks being unable to stop inflation. All they can do, is lie to the people by fooling around with statistics about the *real* inflation. And with these current plans to make Europe pay for Ukraine’s weapons, bought from the US, while pumping up the volume on military expenditure in Europe across the board, inflation and currency devaluation are bound to hit the European countries *hard*, even without Trump’s tariffs. It is my impression that every decision in ‘Brussels’, and the capitals of the ‘Country of the Willing’, are focussed on hurting Russia, without paying attention to the consequences for Europe itself, because that same mindset which informed our decision makers ahead of the ‘SMO’ that victory was assured, is still alive and kicking. They are not thinking it through. They act as if they are committed. Never, ever, do they honor Treaties, Accords, Contracts, Words of Honor, or Laws, but this is their baby. Although a number of European countries said ‘Thanks, but no!’ when they were told to pay for Ukraines weapons offered by Trump and Rutte. France, Italy, Czechia immediately said they were not go to pay a penny, and Spain, Hungary and Slovakia are certain to reject that burden as well. Britain is broke, as is France, which is cutting back on welfare and education to pay for ‘Project Ukraine’ as it is. And Germany is in really bad shape, economically, and politically, with Merz living on borrowed time after his ‘confirmation hearing’ as Chancellor failed to provide the required number of votes the first time around.
Blue Turtles are no longer in vogue, and dreaming of peace won’t deliver us from war. The British government was caught with its pants down when ‘Declassified UK’ published a story about the government paying ‘influencers’ on ‘YouTube’ to ‘influence’ the people so they would believe that ‘War is Peace’, and in the US the CEO of a company called ‘Crowds on Demand’ told the media that spontaneous ‘movements’ were a thing of the past, since nearly everything was scripted. Now, don’t you think it is about time that we took back the control over our lives?
