Yesterday I published an article on the Dutch-language part of this blog, but the subject-matter is important for those who do not master the Dutch language.
Willy OAM drew my attention to a book, published in 2023, in which the author claimed that Putin is at war with 'Modernity'. See that video for yourself HERE. I didn't read the book, and I won't. The author is Alexander Etkind, born in St Petersburg when it was still called Leningrad. Today he is serving as professor at a George Soros 'University' in Vienna, promoting a vision of the future which is wide-spread in Western countries.
In his perspective Putin, and people like Xi and Modi, are representatives of what he calls 'PaleoModernity', a 'Carbon Driven' view on expanding the economy and improving life for the people they lead, or a narrow elite, depending on political choices, but that is beside the point for the moment. They fight the ascendent 'GaiaModernity' he favors, which focusses on conservation of the planet, and reducing our 'footprint', teaching us to be happy with no possessions. Or, from my perspective, 'GaiaModernity' is imposing itself on countries run by leaders favouring the 'Old Fashioned' way to create 'Wealth', and improve living standards.
The 'beauty' of this contrast is that it immediately explains why the 'Old Fashioned' identification of groups within a society as being 'Left-wing' or 'Right-wing' is utterly useless, and why a phenomenon like the 'Uniparty' or 'Warparty' even exists. In the news yesterday, in Holland, was that the serving PM in Thailand had been replaced by a 'conservative', after she had been found guilty of corruption. The 'conservative' had been serving as deputy PM, and was known for legalising the use of cannabis in Thailand. So what does 'conservative' stand for?
In the past I've written articles about that 'Gaia'-approach on my Dutch blog. I support the need to take good care of our planet, but I reject, forcibly, 'GaiaModernity', which is a cult. 'GaiaModernity' needs to feed off the production of others, by imposing 'rules' which cost producers money, taxation, tariffs, sanctions and war, forcing the 'PaleoModernity' countries to pay their Masters and the people they lead, listed as 'consumers', using the 'Currency of Choice' they print.
While 'PaleoModernity' relies on a structured approach, and firm laws to facilitate and underpin production and innovation, 'GaiaModernity' spreads confusion and chaos, insisting on 'rules' which change with the tide, or are 'explained' differently depending on the needs of the leaders, to facilitate lawfare, and robbing countries clinging on to 'PaleoModernity' blind, and using a 'Warrior-Caste' if they must. Now, pick your poison carefully.
