An essay on recent developments

After the fact you can ‘spin’ what happened to fit your own narrative, unless those facts are way out in ‘left field’. It is unlikely that people who invested heavily in ‘Ukraine is Winning’ are frequent visitors of this blog, unless they are truly ‘hostile’, feeling I should be on the Myrovorets ‘Kill List’. Apparently a list containing more than just a few prominent western people opposed to the war, looking for a negotiated way out. Yet this list is said to be originating in Langley, VA. However I do like to stress that this blog is not meant to strengthen the opposition first and foremost, but that I would like to reach out to those ‘true believers’, because they are doing themselves, and the Ukrainian people, a great disservice.

For this reason I actively participated on the ’Turcopolier’-website, after being a passive reader for many years. I strongly disagreed with both colonel Lang and ‘TTG’, as well as multiple other contributors on that forum, about almost everything related to this war. I still add my comments at irregular intervals, merely to correct factual information which is wrong, or highly debatable. But I use this blog to explain my thinking from the moment I understood that content like this was no longer welcome at the ’Turcopolier’-website.

Now, I do not have any ‘backdoor’ information from the ‘Russians’ or their NATO-opposites on what they have in mind for the continuation of this war, and I do not have recent ‘hands on’ knowledge of weapon systems in use, or proposed. I listen to opinions from both sides, and I’m doing my utmost to understand who is lying, and who is telling the truth. I do admit that I do not trust western politicians, less so after ‘Iraq’ and the ‘WMD’-hoax. I have no reason to believe they learned from that f.ck-.p. On the contrary, it seems like they are overdoing it today.

While the information about battlefield performance is hard to come by, I do accept that the Russians are gaining territory as we speak. But we also should know by now, that territory is not their true focus, and that they are looking for ways to ‘grind’ NATO-forces down. Make them commit soldiers and equipment to fight battles they have no chance of winning, letting them take a heavy toll. The entire ‘Kherson’-gambit is proof of that. After destroying an entire army storming the Russian positions, the Russian forces left practically unscathed to set up defensive positions along the Dnipro river, surrendering the west of Kherson district, and Kherson city itself. But sucking in Ukrainian troops which had no chance to rule the territories they had been given, proved to be a ‘Kiss of Death’.

The Russians, at this moment, are winning. Not incrementally, but in like ‘playing the NATO-military like a fiddle’, and exacting the toll they want to exact. Which is why NATO is ‘Up in Arms’, floating various plans to drown the Ukrainians in brand new equipment, which is only going to prolong the suffering of the Ukrainians. Those in the country first and foremost, but also those staying in other European countries as refugees. With a new mobilization underway in Ukraine, it is clear that Zelensky is down to offering his closest associates to the ‘meat grinder’, since he ordered civil servants to not leave the country, while purging the government in a belated attempt to shore up the image of the country. Even people close to him left the government, or got fired from it, and are now ’singing’ different tunes. Like his former close friend and ‘spin doctor’, Arestovich, exposing a series of inconvenient facts in one interview after the other. The minister of the interior and his entire department got killed in a helicopter crash, flying on a western type helicopter, which may have been shot down by ‘competing’ forces within the government, or lurking in the shadows. A secret service ‘Hot Shot’ admitted that one of the negotiators back in April had indeed been shot in cold blood, just like I reported on this blog.

Who, exactly, are those supporters of Ukraine supporting? Which liar. Which thief. Which murderer. Which actor.

Meanwhile, several countries which claim they fear a Russian invasion, are shipping every weapon, and every last bullet to Ukraine. Explain how disarming yourself is going to save your country from being invaded? If a Russian with a grudge crosses the border, armed with his pitchfork, are we going to call for an ‘Article 5’ retaliation, since nuclear weapons are all we’ve got left? Do you actually expect me to believe that narrative of yours? This isn’t ‘Kindergarten’, mate! Grow up! Develop a spine! And stop lying!

NATO is split between those who feel, contrary to all the data, that victory is around the corner, if only we hand over every last tank on European soil, and add some more ’sanctions’. And, on the other hand, these people (formerly) in the military who understand that this war is lost, and we really should focus on finding a way out. In part our problem is that all those politicians which never served their country, and fell for the salespeople of the ‘for profit’ military industrial complex, truly thought that the weapon systems shown to them were very much like those ‘Plug-and-Play’ things they bought in the ‘Apple-Store’ around the corner. The need for extensive training, a whole range of differences between various systems, the need for maintenance and complicated logistics never even entered their mind as they ordered ‘the latest’ shiny, macho sex-toy with a handsome ‘kickback’ contract. And since those businesses themselves knew the profit was in parts, maintenance contracts and training crews, they never drew attention to this inconvenient fact. Cynical Germans are now suggesting that there really is only one reason why the Americans insist that they should give away all their ‘Leopards’ to be destroyed in Ukraine: To sell Abrams tanks to the Germans.

Then there was this little nugget about Morocco selling its T-72 tanks to the Netherlands, so my country could give them away to Ukraine. Morocco says it never agreed to anything like that. They purchased tanks in Belarus, sent them to the Czech Republic to have them refurbished, but the Czech Republic instead sent them to Ukraine, accepting Dutch tax-payers money to pay them off for diverting those tanks. Stealing from other countries is not a long term business model, less so if the dominant position of your ‘Alliance’ in the world is waning.

Do I know where we will be in two, three months from now? No. We could be busy setting up tribunals to hear the people in charge today in order to learn how we collectively goofed on the approach to this disaster. Or we are pushing up daisies. But, importantly, I cannot see NATO winning this war, and the moment we commit NATO-troops to fight in yet another non-NATO country, or provide weapon systems so as to hit targets in Russia as a ‘last-ditch’ effort to save our unipolar world concept, all hell will break loose. Is that what you, my dear readers, want to accomplish? What exactly are you going to tell your children and grandchildren when they are old enough to ask: ‘What did you do during the war?

Well now, child, you need to understand that we were all misguided……..

No you were not! You opted to stay ‘Comfortably Numb’.
