An essay about the adverse effect of conspiracy thinking

Serious 'Conspiracy-buffs' do not trust any government. In their perception Russia, China and the 'Collective West' are not at war among themselves, but with the people. The leaders of those countries are members of some 'Secret Cabal', sharing a similar vision. They may act as if they are at war, but that is only a pretext to cull the herd. It is just one big show.

As proof they will point to Globalist organisations like the 'World Economic Forum', or the 'United Nations', and a long list of more secretive platforms where they meet and strike deals, or 'receive their marching orders'. On my Dutch language blog I've resisted this idea, despite the fact that 'Conspiracies' do exist, as well as 'Secret Deals' we are not aware of. Sometimes politicians who appear to be the worst enemy of their 'opposite numbers', are close friends 'behind the scenes'. In public they appear to be ready to take the other to court, or order an attempt on his or her life, but in private they pat each other on the back, and congratulate themselves because they fooled the general public into believing they were serious. I'm not denying that these things do happen. Yet I refuse to accept that we're being fooled 24/7, by everyone in power. Unless some 'Alien Society' with vastly more intelligence than we are allowed to obtain are having fun with us, here on earth, using us as their 'Playthings' in an intricate game to avoid boredom. If so, we're screwed whatever we do.

The latter observation touches on religious concepts which advocate 'pre-destination', with limited options for us mortals to 'prove' ourselves. Not my cup of tea. My own worldview hinges on full autonomy within the boundaries of our physical abilities and mental capacity, and the limits set by society. Because I need the concept of personal responsibility to be alive and well in order to question the decisions of my fellow men. If we only have to 'prove' ourselves, we bear no responsibility, and it is sufficient to point out that we had 'Good Intentions'. We blew up 'Northstream', but we had 'Good Intentions'. We met with the person who blew up 'Northstream' as acting 'Chancellor' of Germany, the country which was hit hardest by this terrorist act, and we acted as if nothing happened, because we had 'Good Intentions'.

The 'Prime Minister' of Holland struck a 'Secret-Deal' with Joe Biden on killing the production of 'High-Tech' machines producing computer chips to screw China, because he had 'Good Intentions', and he had to 'prove' himself. Did het think it through? No. He sought and got 'compensation' from 'Uncle Joe', although nothing about this 'Secret Deal' was revealed to the public, but it prevented a sharp drop of the value of the shares in 'ASML', and who could ask for more? Possibly deliveries to Taiwan, a province of China, are still allowed, since the US is preparing to blow up the island like they blew up Ukraine, to 'prove' themselves as people with 'Good Intentions'.

Pushing for acceptance of full autonomy removes the limitations as an excuse, and makes people far more careful, and humble. Suddenly they come to realise that accepting responsibility is a 'Big Deal'. I read a tweet by Jeffrey Sachs, quoting from a report broadcasted by CNN, apparently, with the Armed Forces of Ukraine as their source. It read that on February 28, 2023, 259.085 people had been killed, or died from wounds and diseases during the one year military conflict. Another 246.904 had been wounded, crippled, 83.952 had deserted, or went missing, and 28.393 are prisoners of war. I have no way to corroborate these numbers, but if I compare them with the number of dead Russian soldiers provided by the Russians themselves, and confirmed as reliable by the BBC and Medusa through their own investigation, where they found proof of around 14.000 killed, and suggested the true figure could be forty percent higher, so somewhere closer to 20.000, quite a few people in our part of the world are failing their test to 'prove' themselves. And I'm convinced that if they had been converted to my own outlook on life, they would have steered away from bearing the responsibility for this folly before it happened.

If there would have been a 'Great Conspiracy' to cull as many human beings as possible to 'Save the Planet', as 'Conspiracy-buffs' would like us to believe, the total number on either side would be comparable. Our western 'Fortune Tellers', doubling as our 'leaders', insist the numbers are indeed much higher on the Russian side, and 'Conspiracy-buffs' are likely to accept those bloated numbers, because they want to believe in this 'Great Conspiracy', which would come apart at the seams if one side is winning, and the other is losing. Regrettably they deny themselves the possibility to see the ugly truth as it really is, and how they are deceived, and how they are deceiving themselves. And they won't see what is coming. Nor are they able to accept responsibility for their own actions as long as they refuse to accept that the people they are defending against this 'Secret Cabal' are fallible, and not born victims.

Odd though it may seem to be, this rather wide spread idea that we are led by a 'Secret Cabal' dovetails with this culture of 'victimhood' which is the rage in the Western world. We're all victims. We were born victims. Even if we blow up the entire neighbourhood, we are not to blame. It is the fault of our parents. The fault of our teachers. The fault of society. The fault of this 'Secret Cabal'. The Devil made me do it!
